Bernard Squarcini

Mr. Bernard Squarcini is responsible for the European operations of Arcanum in addition to serving as Senior Advisor to the Chairman on Intelligence Operations.

Mr. Squarcini joined Arcanum in 2013. Since 2015, he has taken on the additional responsibilities of the role of President of Arcanum France (SAS). He brings over 30 years of experience in the field of intelligence and security to the Company, having served as the Chief of the French counter-terrorism and intelligence agency, the Central Directorate of Interior Intelligence (DCRI) from 2008 to 2012. He retired from government service in March of 2013 as Senior Executive Prefect, after five years as the organization’s Chief.

From 2007 to 2008, Mr. Squarcini served as France’s Head of Homeland Security. He served as the Delegate Prefect for Security and Defense from 2004 to 2005, and as Deputy Director of the Central Directorate of General Intelligence from 1999 to 2004. In addition, since 1979, Mr. Squarcini has held various senior positions in law enforcement, serving for eight years as Principal Commissioner of Police before his first appointment as Head of Division at the Central Directorate of General Intelligence in 1987.

Mr. Squarcini has been awarded the Legion of Honour at the class of Chevalier (“Knight”), and has been the recipient of several other awards, including the Commander of the National Order of Merit, the Cross of the Order of Civil Merit of Spain and the Cross of Military Merit.
